Helping Wings Scholarship awarded to Gerard Mc Gonigle

We are delighted to announce that the 2014 Helping Wings flying scholarship sponsored by the Ports of Jersey has been awarded to Gerard Mc Gonigle.

Gerard was introduced to us by Headway who felt that he would benefit from a trial lesson as he is suffering from Post Traumatic Stress after a horrendous accident in 2012 when he fell from a scaffolding ending up with severe brain injury and a broken back amongst other things!

His previous fitness (Gerard was a kickboxer) and his determination helped him through his recovery. His trial flight brought back such wonderful memories, Gerard had a few flying lessons when he lived in Ireland, that he decided to apply for the scholarship.

During the interview, we were very impressed with his determination and his enthusiasm. He is a very focused young man and we know that he will get a huge benefit from his flying.

We are looking at organising a presentation evening for Gerard towards the end of June and will email you again as soon as we have the date.
