Helping Wings 2016 Flying Scholarship presentation

Tuesday 28th June at the Jersey Aero Club saw over 50 Helping Wings and club members as well as friends celebrating this year’s awards to two very worthy candidates

In a very relaxed atmosphere, the presentation was made by Myra Shacklady, Key account and Marketing Director of Ports of Jersey, our sponsors in the presence of our Patron H.E. The Lieutenant Governor, Sir John McColl and Lady McColl.

Les Amis resident, Val Gavey was awarded 5 training flights with the Jersey Aero Club (JAC) whilst 17year old William De Freitas was awarded £2000 of flight training also with the JAC.

Robert and Sebastian Pooley of Pooley’s Flight equipment very generously donated a Pooley’s flight bag complete with the required books, maps etc. which was presented to William.

Myra Shacklady surprised everyone by announcing that Ports of Jersey will be sponsoring the scholarship for yet another year.

Chairman Eveline Hawkin took the opportunity to thank Sir John and Myra Shacklady for their continuing support as well as the Helping Wings Committee and all the volunteers for their incredible generosity and hard work.
